Standing abductor exercises are typically performed while standing upright, with the feet shoulder-width apart. One common exercise is the standing hip abduction, in which the leg is lifted directly out to the side, away from the body, and then lowered back down. Seat abductor exercises are usually performed while seated on bench, with the legs extended straight out in front of the body. One example of a seat abductor exercise is the seated leg lift, in which one leg is lifted directly out to the side, away from the body, and then lowered back down. This exercise can also be performed with added resistance to increase the challenge.
